In its latest edition, this career resource continues to provide very basic information for upper-elementary and middle-school students. More than 650 entries cover careers from Accountants and Actors to Zookeepers and Zoologists. Among the more than 70 new entries are Animal handlers, Campaign workers, Epidemiologists, and Science and medical writers.
Entries are arranged alphabetically. Each two-page spread is divided into sections that briefly explain what people in the career typically do, what education and training are required, what the prospects for growth are, and how to obtain more information. This last section provides contact information for relevant organizations and associations, most of which appear to be well chosen. Additional entry features include a black-and-white photograph and a box summarizing relevant school subjects and personal interests, minimum education level, salary range, and outlook. Another box refers the reader to entries for jobs that are related. Each volume concludes with the same two-page glossary and set index. Volume 8 also contains a "Guide for Occupational Exploration Index" and "National Occupational Classification System Index" as well as the standard "Dictionary of Occupational Titles Index" and the new "Occupational Information Network-Standard Occupational Classification Index."
